Get ready for your mark! A group of participants will rise from the starting line. But they don't seem to be in a hurry. Why not? Athletes are lazy and one of the slowest animals on the planet! This race is part of an event called the Sloth Iron Man Game. Held annually in October at the Toucan Rescue Ranch, Costa Rica's Wildlife Center. Sloths are faced in competitions such as rock climbing races and flower-eating contests (see Sloth Sporting Events). Animals do not always work together. “Sometimes they go in the wrong direction altogether!” Says Zara Palmer, who manages the event. Lazy sporting event The Sloth Iron Man game features activities to help you practice the skills that sloths need to survive in the wild. There are three major events here.
